Interview Prep Checklist (Free Download)

How to use this interview prep checklist

Start 24–48 hours before the interview. Work top to bottom: know the role, pick stories that prove fit, rehearse answers out loud, write three questions to ask, then run the day-of setup so tech and timing do not distract you.

1. Research the role and company

• Rewrite the job in your own words: top 3 outcomes they want
• Note required skills you can prove with a real example
• Skim the company site, product, and recent news for one talking point
• Check the interviewer on LinkedIn for role context, not scripts

2. Build your STAR story bank

Prepare five to six short stories you can reuse: a win, a conflict, a mistake you fixed, leadership or ownership, and a time you learned fast. For each story, lock Situation, Task, Action, and Result. Keep results specific—numbers beat vague “improved things.”

3. Prep likely questions

• “Tell me about yourself” mapped to this role (90 seconds)
• Why this company / why this role
• Two behavioral questions from the job description
• One weakness or gap answer with a fix already in progress
• Salary or logistics only if you expect them—keep it calm and brief

4. Day-of interview setup

• Confirm time zone, link or address, and interviewer names
• Test camera, mic, and quiet background for video calls
• Have resume, job description, and 3 questions open beside you
• Plan a short follow-up email the same day
